It’s not 2007 anymore and Dropbox isn’t a plain “rsync GUI” anymore. It’s been obvious for years now that they don’t care about technical users so we should not use it anymore. I probably moved on in 2017.
- AlexandrB 4y agoAgreed. I use Syncthing[1] and it's great. It just sits in the background and works like Dropbox used to. If you have a NAS or some other always-on machine it acts as a good master for syncing things. [1] https://syncthing.net/ https://syncthing.net/
- eropple 4y agoI haven't looked at Syncthing in a few years. What's the best way to get files on an iOS device, without syncing them all to the device? (I use this a lot in Dropbox to grab a picture or something and use the OS share functionality to send it to Slack or whatever.)
- thevagrant 4y agoWhy though? Surely there is a reason they changed their sync process.
