They’re not “hidden” or “omitted”. They’re a widely known part of the climate record. Perhaps if they’re news to you you should take that as a sign that you’re not well informed about the topic.

If Theranos devices had been able to do what they claimed the business model was clear and likely very profitable. I don’t understand how anyone ever thought 23andMe had a viable business model selling a test that only needed to be done onc

No, it just forces you to find an abstraction, not necessarily a good one. Badly designed abstractions can be far worse than repetition.

The real news here is that the authors have apparently found an objective and universal measure of code quality.

The calculus for me is how likely is it to happen vs how convenient is it. The chance of me being one of the first people in the world to have their car ransomwared is pretty low, and if it happens I’ll claim it as a write off on my car ins

The theory is known as the Phillips curve and is fairly widely followed by central banks and policy makers. Is it true? Hard to say really, like most macroeconomic theory.

Business insider is a trash publication. I wouldn’t waste my time reading it. Their content is always some combination of over stated, inaccurate or flat out made up.

The Engineering example is absolutely hilarious. Sure, I’m going to copy paste my code into an AI assistant to ask it about a bug that a linter would spot in realtime as I wrote the code.

I find that the first three are correlated with both the best and the worst engineers I know. The last one is usually the decider. Sadly lots of hiring processes select heavily for the first three and are poor at identifying the last one.

It’s surprisingly easy to write an interpreted language and I’d highly recommend it as a learning tool. You get a really good intuitive sense of how programming languages work by doing it.

If you leave dependencies off a hook by mistake you’re creating bugs, unintended behaviour and making your code a nightmare to modify. That’s always going to be worth linting for. Can you over lint a codebase, sure I guess so, if your lint
