We've had a better alternative to "chatbots" for a long time, it's called a command line. All of this obsession over "natural language processing" is annoying to me. I have a Google home, and it can't do e

Don't listen to the breeders. You can choose to have a family when you want. You don't need to share blood with your child in order for it to be a meaningful and fulfilling relationship. I'm from a large extended family that

A lot of people don't seem to understand that not all housing is a good investment, and that paying rent and making your landlord pay for repairs and maintaining the house while you invest your money elsewhere is often the smarter move

This is cute, but with what we now know about CTE, I can't help but find boxing, football, etc disgusting. I'm not just being a pretentious nerd, I actually like sports and I used to love watching boxing / MMA. It is so so so

I worked with `sh` for a while. I strongly prefer invoke. It handles signal processing and TTY flawlessly. You can even get it to ssh into remote terminals and open a console and it works. It's also a CLI builder where you can chain co

Recently I've replaced most of my bash scripting with the python library invoke. It's written by the same people who wrote the python ssh scripting framework fabric. http://www.pyinvoke.org/ Works great!!

True, but all of those languages are very heavy-handed and have ancient and arcane build-tools and package management ( If they have it at all ) For me, I was looking for a language that is appropriate for both scripting and slightly larger

Dynamic languages tend to be more popular. Examples: - ruby - python - Javascript I was on a quest for a good, well supported, statically typed scripting language for quite a while, and in the end I defaulted to python.

Agreed. I've run Linux for years with no issues whatsoever. I feel that people who criticize the platform have yet to try it... Though to be fair, if your are running Photoshop or final cut Linux is not a great use case

The Super Mario Bros movie is a treasure of a terrible film. Even reading the production retrospectives is hilarious. And the fact that Dennis Hopper is in the movie is priceless.
