Additionally, I agree there were failures at many levels regarding the promises made to the people of Illinois. Honestly, I don't completely absolve the citizens of Illinois ( Of which I am one ). As the article states, these pension numbers NEVER added up and for some reason people kept buying into the "free golden ponies" narrative.
