About style A vs B vs C: Robert C. Martin encourages style B because it reads topdown and replaces comments with names.

No only anecdotal data that I hear again and again. Likewise, where is the avidence about the tech shortage?

When you are willing to hire women, older people and provide adequate salaries (dare I say work conditions), suddenly there isn't so much tech shortage.

I miss SVGs, <audio>, Youtube embeds, and the layouting is off. Sometimes mouse wheel doesn't work, was stuck once scrolled. Biggest problem is keyboard layout isn't right. I tested on OSX, nice work overall!

I use sub-TODO lists with thematic stuff (ie. freelancing-related, related to this or that product, etc). Then I get to not see it which is really helpful. A good TODO list doesn't have too many stuff in it, so why not hide parts of it

My advice: learn OpenCL, but not OpenGL. The API is much simpler, and very applicable. Maps on CUDA quite well too.

OT about splice.com: how do you version control DAW projects, you have a custom parser + text diff? Would you support Orion and Reaper? :)

Video codecs are incremental improvements upon incremental improvements. That doesn't prevent each new generation to beat the previous by 2x.

These days bgfx solves this problem. Why run around when you can target all graphics APIs at once.

Sure, but I somehow never encounter a problem where I need a real lockfree data structure other than a ringbuffer or a variation thereof. Interlocked queues are almost giving me enough.

Now we only need more lock-free problems :) Seriously, I'm pretty much content with regular uncontended mutexes and atomics in the vast majority of cases.

High-quality software is a documented way to reduce costs. The evidence is filling books, while there is none that shows that low quality leads anywhere.

Can empathize with that. The problem with OpenGL is not really the API but the impossibility to really have something correct. There is a sheer difficulty of finding combinations of GPU x drivers x OS to test OpenGL. It's quite common

From this thread you'll find people that will reject someone with 10 years of experience because of failing Fizzbuzz in the conditions of an interview. It's not always used to talk shop. What I say is that there are things that ar

The problem is that Fizzbuzz and string reversing are a kind of trick questions. Either you have already done them or not. Good people will fail at trick questions very easily in interviews. Since they don't represent real work and are
