‘The man I think I know’ by Mark Gayle. No kingdoms at war or cyborgs. Just a good read about male friendship with an interesting starting point.

Poke most devs and you will find that the sysadmin stuff unnerves them. Talk to a sysadmin about their programming skills and they will start to twitch. The lesser known is always more intimidating and fascinating than what we already know.

Be kind but consistent. When I have had drama it tended to be over non-technical issues such as pay, time-off, notice period, stuff like that. It’s best your team respects you first and likes you second.

I’m getting older and somewhat dismayed at how people want to punish others for their viewpoint. I am told I must be more tolerant by people who want to sack, ban and punish others for having a different point of view. I would not support y

My wife. I was going to leave work recently and have a go at growing my sideline. I decided to stay at work. My wife was 100% behind me whatever I chose which meant a lot.

I agree we are in a golden age of ham tech but older hams than me (like my friend GI0LZR) talk about days when the radio bands were more open. This is ham speak for sending/receiving more frequent long distance calls. I think we may be

I’ve been playing bass in churches for 30 years. I really enjoy listening to Hillsong’s music and playing it. In the 80s we had lively songs and pensive songs. I enjoy the modern style of quiet songs which become epic anthems.

I’m happy. Only issue I had was missing how 16.04 managed workspaces. It was easy to default back to unity rather than gnome in 18.04 and use workspaces the way I liked. You can select unity or gnome at login.
