FSD Beta (not Tesla Autopilot) drives door to door right now. Go on youtube and search for "FSD Beta 10" to get a feel of it. It makes mistakes enough that you need an attentive driver who can take over, so you still need a steeri

The only difference between level 2 and up is whether the system needs attention should it make a mistake, and ATM Tesla must have a fully attentive driver at all times. The problem with the SAE levels is that level 2 covers such a broad ca

Sure, hence "pending software". And if you happen to follow their progress on youtube (just search FSD Beta 10), you'll see just how advanced it already is. And it's getting better at an exponential rate.

You will never hear about all the times it's saved people's lives and avoided accidents, so until you show me that it has in fact increased accident rates, a link to a video means nothing, unless you are a journalist and your news

Dig down enough and all so called merit comes down to luck. And no, we shouldn't push for putting all lucky people in power.

I am the only person I know in my group of friends who can change the focus of my eyes independently of the distance of the object I’m looking at. In other words, I can make vision go blurry (wide eyes open) without it going double.

If you have a domain that you know won't be going away, you can renew it for up to 10 years in advance. Cloudflare currently has the lowest price for .com.

I recently used `git bisect` to find the latest compatible code revision for a DB snapshot by checking the db migrations applied in that snapshot. Bisecting 80K commits takes a few seconds. Magical stuff.

Major thumbs-up for AMD chip. With a replaceable main board, this will be a dream. I ordered a framework laptop at its highest CPU+RAM spec and can't wait to replace my 6 years old ThinkPad x250 with it. EDIT: would also add that the o

I’m talking about my own experience comparing an electric car and a gasoline car at low speeds. EVs being significantly quieter is already well established and we have laws for EVs to make extra noise to alert pedestrians.

It was only after owning a Tesla that I realized how much of the noise from a car comes from its engine, and not the tires. I'd ballpark around 80%, especially at city speeds (less than 50 km/h).
