Presumably he built it with AWS in mind, using their proprietary services and APIs. I'm certain if it was easy to have transitioned away from AWS, he would've already done so.

I feel like SoundCloud (and similar indie music services) could really benefit from a microtransaction-based model. I don't want to pay SoundCloud $10/month for what they offer, because a competitor is fulfilling an aspect of that

I wonder though: how would you feel if a digital medium forced the a similar ritual? In other words, if the task you had to perform to get music playing was as involved as putting on a record, would you gain the same sense of satisfaction f

Certainly true. Even some of the earliest CD masters are still very good, relatively. By most standards it took a fairly short amount of time for CD audio to reach a high standard for quality (loudness wars aside).

You'll actually have a very difficult time finding a modern lossy encoder at sane settings that will produce anything worse than what's achievable with a vinyl record. Because modern oversampling D/A converters are also very

I'm a huge fan of CDs for this reason. I know I'm getting perfect, uncompressed digital audio. Ah, but you don't know! On Beck's Odelay Deluxe Edition release, for example, there are at least two tracks that came from

I think there's an argument for doing those things yourself if it's genuinely cheaper or of higher-quality, but you can't realistically make that argument with vinyl. I think with vinyl people are looking for more of a sense

It's not always lack of experience: there's a mantra among some DJs that if you "aren't redlining you aren't headlining". I'm not a proponent of it, but I've heard the expression used more than a few

If I understand you right, your contention seems to be more with animation and 'fluff' rather than with MV* frameworks like Angular specifically. To which I'll simply say: in some cases animation is as important to the user e

I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. Sticky elements are a somewhat new mechanic on the web, and if used inappropriately I agree they can cause confusion, but I don't see that in this particular instance. Certainly

I don't believe that's the case. Sticky elements aren't uncommonly used in iOS at least. If there's guidance about interface elements not behaving the way you're describing, I didn't see it in glancing through

I'd argue that Facebook defines content that's "public" in a way that some — perhaps many — would not, so it's a potential point of confusion. I don't consider it evil , but it certainly results in a sort of F
