I love anecdotes and I have some of my own, but does anyone have real data-backed arguments for why Americans still get hired for 10x a comparable developer in India? Are we, (I’m an American developer) really 10x as productive?

I actually freelanced on a project 10 years ago which was exactly that. Don’t take its failure as proof that such an idea cannot succeed, but the major headwinds were that most research is pretty difficult to explain (and scientists are not

It is a valid question, but to put it in perspective, the sun bathes us in dramatically more kWh than we need to annually power the world every few minutes. So fusion would be a drop in the bucket at a global scale.

As the world opens up, working from home doesn’t have to mean living from home. A lot of structure and friendship can come from self-selected groups and activities, not just those who the organization put on your team. The author mentions a

I Duck Duck Go’d “child sink” “running water” and found both small water-recycling ones (like I’ve seen) and real portable ones which use separate input/output jugs. But you could of course dump back into input. Hopefully a good star

Can anyone give an anecdote about how costly (time and money) it is to pursue legal options in this kind of situation? I hate net-negative strategies, but (anec)data would be really helpful to many of us in the future.

My advice would be to congratulate yourself on fitting much more productive stuff into a day than almost anyone else I’ve ever seen (sustainably). Don’t stress, and if you want to try to fit something else in, use a vacation day.

This is very true - some apartment buildings have great community (of course, plenty don’t). Demographics certainly drive part of the distinction, but just having a person step up and do the barest amount of leadership is also critical.
