I don't understand. You're afraid that your Google searches will be published to your Facebook stream, so you want to close your FB account and move to G+, because presumably Google is less likely to publish to your G+ profile than to your

I totally understand your concern about sharing things that might hurt you in the future. Anyway, I guess the Washington Post Reader wasn't designed for a lot of people like you, so there's nothing lost from not installing the app. But I ha

I am a software engineer at Facebook. Bear with me because I don't have any PR-quality answer to give you. I am not on the platform team, but I have built apps before in the wild-west days. The app requires explicit permission from the user

Why the downvotes? I am an engineer at Facebook who worked on parts of Timeline. That was posted from my phone, but I just tried it and it definitely fits under 1000 pixels if you close the chat sidebar.

Exactly. Unfortunately, there are so many special-interests and lobbyists who will fight dollar-for-dollar to keep their special perks. Why else could it be that the most profitable industries (like oil) have some of the biggest allies in C

Great question! It is for the same reason that Google agreed to a really high breakup fee with motorola. It signals its willingness to fight the lawsuit up to the cost of the breakup at the least. Therefore it signals to regulators that the

Buffett is very shrewd. He invested in Goldman Sachs and GE during the collapse, but he refused to put a dime in Dick Fuld's Lehman Brothers. This is why Berkshire Hathaway has been earning over 20% annually (on average) for multiple decade

Although the rich do not necessarily use more of some services (i.e. food stamps), they benefit the most from government's main role: That of protecting property, ensuring safety/stability, and enforcing the law and contracts.

How can that be? Suppose our debt limit were hit. Law says we can't issue more debt; another law says we must pay social security. Until more taxes start rolling in, we'd be breaking one law or the other.

"We can pay back our debt since it's denominated in dollars" is a meme thrown around online blogs, but it is misguided. If the way the debt is paid back is through currency devaluation, it's safe to say that the investors were not truly pai
