The response I get offline is that there's millions of seniors right now that can last a couple decades.

How much are you willing to pay? Is there any expectation of payoff?

Dude, the time for work is going down drastically, about a third of before. Are you not facing it?

To give you the benefit of doubt - you're not paying attention. The 100$ claude account is profitable inference wise, and performs better than 80% of engineers with upto 5YOE. Architects I speak with want to delegate to this 100$ agent

Sending you empathy. I think we have to get used to the lower pay expectation. This is the biggest negative, which does not make up for all of the AI's upsides.

It does not exclude. But the expectation of larger money has to go. They're literally competing with 100 dollars a month.

Your getting unnecessarily down voted by devs who want to feel morally superior, but don't have any concrete answer to the conundrum you've posed. It's about money, and the actual solution would be to lower pay at senior leve

pi, openclaw, vinext, browser, ccc compiler, the scope is only growing. Look for the claude icon in the trending GitHub repos https://github.com/trending . It's like on all of them. It's hard. :( .. Those who are n

The money points hurts yes. We were worth 200 per hour, and as of yesterday were compared to bring 2 dollars per hour, and going down. The thing is feeling bad or complaining about this does nothing. What else then? Acceptance?

I think this framing is wrong. we have to learn to accept that it's not stealing. It's a new world where it's fair use and we don't know how to deal with it. If we accept this then we can do something about it. Without i

This matters less and less in the new world. that fact that a fully compatible 10x faster clone came up, and is continuously working and adapting/improving, tells you that this is hugely valuable. It has users and it's thriving. C

Training falls outside of copyright concerns because of fair use, so proprietary or free is orthogonal. This is how the world is currently trending.

This is incorrect. IN the older world, you would not say intelligence autocompleted code was not copyrightable. Agentic code is the same on steroids. The strong argument: It's absolutely auto completed code for the prompter, and hence

Internships are these, and are getting longer. I'm also thinking this is what will stop the transfer of roles to another part of the world. Of course using AI is a skill. But the effort needed to get there is becoming lower and lower.

The solution is simple, but unpalatable to us. With AI, SWE-1 becomes a minimum wage job, with SWE2 (1.5X), SWE3 (2X) and SWE4 (3x). With such a rationalization we will retain more of the work here, or this will move. Government policies ca

If we're honest - you are not being stopped from mentoring developers. You're saying you'd want to do it on time paid for by others, and competing with teams not doing that. So the actual pain point is compensation, and IMO w

Indeed, it's the Overton window that has moved. Which is why I secretly think the pro-AI side is more right than the anti-AI side. Makes me sad.
