Didn't necessarily say they is something wrong with them :) Though in this specific case the ones I skimmed did not look very useful, and in general they are organized quite differently than FOSS projects usually organize their code, w

The jump from JS to the microsoft world is always hard. Hell, jumping from anywhere into microsoft environments has to be hard. No surprise that it was a difficult transition if that wasn't in your background so far. The docs alone wil

From my experience this is wrong. If you set a transparent background in wxwidgets/gtk it will show you a grey background. And gtk3 even removed the ability to query the x background pixmap. So if there is better support for this at an

Fake transparency is still a thing, for desktops without compositor. Not only in terminals, but also in docks.

VW might actually make this move because of regulatory pressure. There was a recent decision of not allowing the use of Tesla's touch screens in Germany [0]. So if VW had continued with their touchscreen-only design they might have got

When Pipes died I saw all the comments and wondered why no one built a successor project. When after a few years that still hadn't happened, and after an idea on how to get it to work had popped into my head, I built it myself: https:

You are correct. I indeed remembered that not even the ambassador was summoned, but according to https://www.dw.com/de/nsa-sp%C3%A4hangriff-us-botschafter-ei... at least that did happen.

Why do you think that? Germany didn't even protest when it was revealed that the USA spied on the phone of chancellor Merkel, the BND sent siphoned german internet traffic to the NSA in an act of treason, and flight passenger data is s

It's not FUD, but simple facts. The project accepted that behavior for years - for me that's something I want to know before using software. Similar as to why one picks FreshRSS and not tt-rss.

Behavior akin to a paranoid delusion. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4To-F6W1NT0 . The developer is gone, so no need to avoid the project completely, but CalyxOS is an interesting alternative anyway.

Oh, you are not wrong. It's perfectly valid to also blame Gnome and Ubuntu for this. The Wayland session should not have been the default in either project before such a basic functionality was working. Still, the result is the same: I
