Oh you read it? I'm glad you read :) However, note that everything you read is not necessarily true. Unless you have HARD DATA, whatever you read may very well be made up.

It doesn't take any work at all. Just look at your feed. As soon as you see someone you don't care about just one click hide them or unfriend them (if socially possible). If you see a post from a page you don't care about, then one click un

Doesn't matter if you think they're shallow. I care about these people. I want to know more about them and I want to stay connected with them in hopes that we cross paths again some day (for those that I don't live near).

You have to remember Facebook's scale. These "increasingly common" anecdotes are from the same demographic of people. Facebook is used by 1.15 BILLION people. Think about that for a second. It's an absolutely staggering number and they're a

I love baby pictures, they're really cute. I love seeing my friends' and family's babies grow up through pictures on FB because I can't always be there in person.

My FB feed is phenomenal. I hide people that post spam, and unfollow pages that spam me. What's left is the people I care about and the content from pages I care about (e.g. The Economist posts really good content every day, so does Rap Gen

I don't think there's much long term value in being a generalist. I think people benefit much more from the perspective of being a specialist; it's much more proprietary and can't really be replaced. Generalism propagates mediocrity at many

Why not? Without FB, I wouldn't be able to connect as much with all the people I've met in multiple places around the world. All people that I care about. I've also met a ton of new people that I otherwise wouldn't have met (e.g. from group

What an absolutely retarded argument. As someone mentioned above, apparently this is the same amount of money that Google offers for security exploits. How is it any different? Also how much money do you expect? You should expect NO money f

Your job must be so miserable that you feel the need to make a comment like this. I'm so sorry about that, but some people have exciting, amazing jobs, and that's no reason to get jealous.

A big chunk of that $1m will be gone to taxes, as someone in another comment has already mentioned. Also the taxes at the time were much higher; so the impressive $1m starts to look much less impressive when you add in the fact that it prob

Let the number 1.11 billion sink into your head for a second. What do these people all have in common besides a need for food, water, and shelter? Facebook. Crazy isn't it? So that's why I don't think a couple million people leaving will af

I use all of them (as do my friends). Different people use the service in different ways. Who would have thought 1.11 billion people are different from each other? Crazy how that works huh?

So the fact that 1.4 million people "left" doesn't really mean anything then. Also, according to all statistics, Facebook has actually been GROWING. They have 1.11 billion users now compared to less than 1 billion last year. Something like

Exactly this. Buying Instagram was a preventive measure, and it seemed to work out really really well for both parties involved. Buying Tumblr though? It's not so much of a preventive measure. It would be more for the integration potential
