I have been to many and there are always people who are unlicensed walking the show advertising that they want to trade or sell their gun. This is literally the "Gun Show Loophole"

Isn't that because of forced conscription and most vets keep their rifles? So presumably they have both significant training and vetting? Meanwhile in the US anyone over the age of 18 can walk into a gun show and walk out with a high p

Are you talking specifically about research? Because in my experience the time and $ delta needed to bring a classification model from say 93-96% accuracy is not worth it to most businesses. So all your special "deep knowledge" is

Beyond Fizbuzz, the standard algo type interviews are just optimizing for time spent on Leetcode or length of time since finishing College.

Most of your examples are irrelevant to the discussion which is about Science and Academia but largely you are describing patterns of stalking behavior which tangentially include criticism. The point I was making was that people in the CRT

Well you're kind of exactly demonstrating my argument. Criticism of someone's idea or theory is not harassment of that person. It's by definition not ad-hominem

Depends on the Field. I'd say that in Physics for example there is almost never any good points raised by those on the outside. Should everyone be forced to address every not even wrong idea that comes across their desk?

Important to note that criticism is natural and necessary to move fields forward. There is a movement across Academia particularly in CRT and adjacent fields to equate criticism of an idea or theory with bullying or personal harassment whic

Did the same, was on a pre-order waitlist for a 3080 for months before I cracked. But all priced out it was only like $500 more for the prebuilt vs buying all the components myself. Which considering the markup on 3080s on ebay seems like a

The implication is that there is something beyond the Standard Model which has been essentially completely bulletproof for the last 50 years. Nothing outside truly unknown phenomena, dark matter, dark energy, etc. has ever invalidated it. W

As someone with a background in Physics I get a very strong Gell-Man Amnesia vibe any time Physics is discussed on HN. The takes are nearly always bad and generally not even wrong, it makes me seriously question all discussion on HN.

Seems it's the exact opposite scenario? The value of VC was close mentorship and network building and with a mass of companies this will likely be diluted. Companies already out of YC have presumably found product-market fit and secure

Of course since most Startups are using the Leetcode/FAANG style interview loop the OP probably wouldn't stand a chance of passing without months of study.

Might be useful to think of Extremist views and conspiracy theories as Mind Viruses. Currently we have no way to fight the disease or inoculate people against them other than preventing the ideas getting into their heads in the first place.

These "exploding offers" are usualy 24-48 hours and thats not enough time to get any feedback from your other potential employers.
