The ultimate question is who is responsible for educating their children? Historically it's never been the state. Government run education went hand in hand with the industrial revolution-- it's designed to create a reliable (and pliable) w

Moissanite is the way to go. I got married last fall and didn't even give her the option of a diamond on principle. Nobody asks if it's real, they just think you're loaded because you're fiance is wearing a $800 rock that they think cost 20

This reminds me of companies who spam their customer email lists... They only look at the immediate results without being accountable for how many people are tuning you out.

I built a service on top of EC2/Asterisk that did political phone polling. Not really polling though as much as voter ID, we'd push out 100,000 calls into a congressional district and campaigns would use the resulting data for targeted mail

I disagree. In terms of exits I don't think either have a really distinct advantage-- it's just too early to tell. They are both great programs that will get you plugged in with mentors and investors and you're not going to regret it either

This could be a 1980's Mac vs PC redux. Closed vs open platform. We know how that turned out. Android software/hardware is closing in fast. Who cares if Apple has 1000x more apps if the ones you actually spend 99% of the time using are on b

Probably. But you also have to consider the cross-cultural communication gap. You have to spend quite a bit of time in a culture before you can market effectively. No doubt most Americans are pretty lousy at marketing in India.

People won't pay $200 to save a little money on their heating bill. People WILL pay $200 to have a facebook widget that says they were the #1 greenest home in their neighborhood/city. A little game theory applied to reducing energy consumpt

If I'm the pope and I'm trying to cover up touching little boys in the naughty-place I would use the same reasoning. Imagine the liberal loons (or worse) getting airtime on CNN and huffpo and making it sound like all priests are pedophiles.

As a libertarian I'm inclined to believe that the whole idea of IP is just a farce made up by corporate interests. Maybe it wasn't like that in the beginning, but no doubt that's what it is today. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright_Ter
