From the blog post: If your 1200 × 800 window is set to be scaled to 125 %, with the unified renderers, we will use a framebuffer of size 1500 × 1000 for it, instead of letting the compositor downscale a 2400 × 1600 image. The exp

I agree with the point's in Nix's favor except for 2. dynamically typed. Defining structs as part of the language would be nice. In fact, type checking is done ad-hoc now by passing data through type checking functions.

I see Nix as a powerful way to write config files. It is purely functional, so the only thing it does is create a build recipe. That build recipe is then run by other Nix tooling. A .nix file is either a config file itself or a function tha

Isn't that horrible UI-wise? The UI will ask for password and show '******'. The user then has to remove the last 6 stars and put in the OTP. A dedicated question for the OTP would be much better. Also, the password manager w

I've yet to see a convincing use-case to canonicalize RDF graphs. The document cites these use-cases: There are different use cases where graph or dataset canonicalization are important: Determining if one serialization is isomor

Adding syntax to improve readability of numbers is counterproductive. Improve the software the you use to read and edit the files. The extra syntax makes assumptions on what is easier to read.

Value space is the set of values a type can have. A boolean has only two values in its value space. An unsigned byte has 256 possible values, so does a signed byte. A string enumeration has a limited number of values. E.g. type A ("Yes

This library can be used to create string class hierarchies. That, in turn, can help to use typed strings more. For example, e-mails and urls are a special syntax. Their value space is a subset of all non-empty string which is a subset of a
