Purrfect use of Occam's razor.
They cut away the parts of the cat not needed for purring. Experiments were performed on eight excised larynges.
The researchers built a cybernetic purring machine.
"[subglottal pressure] was controlled automatically by gradually opening and closing a magnetic valve in the air supply chain. This valve was voltage-driven through a signal emitted by the LabJack U6 DAQ, controlled by a custom Python software and graphical user interface (GUI) written by CTH."
Like catgut, cat larynges might be use in future musical instruments.
