The best part is when the developers then close & lock your new issues as duplicates. No discussion allowed, I guess.

They're just awful. I tend to abandon projects that wind up closing issues on me using bots, it's infuriating.

Of course not, the government is free to pass whatever laws regulating whatever kind of content is allowed, as they should and have been doing. What is your point again?

Do you also think you should be able to freely share child pornography on HN as part of your free speech? Or is that not how it works at all?

It's Apple. You are of course welcome to pay their exorbitant development fees yourself, go through the insane review process and publish your own competing app!

Yes. Then you realize that people may still SSH into your servers and manually tweak things when they need the fix "now". So then you start restricting SSH access and forcing everything through Ansible. And now you're deep in

Yeah, I don't think I'm going to be able to explain all that to my users. Some of them don't even have a computer.

How? There must be some restrictions or this would be HUGE news and Epic would rejoice. edit: the apps expire after 1 week and need to be constantly reinstalled. This is abusing an exploit in apple's walled garden that will surely be &

So you'd really rather hide behind Apple's goodwill instead of simply having the government regulate things, as they're already doing? Simply contact the relevant watchdog in your country.

Exactly, everything else you listed about Apple's behavior is also anticompetitive and will hopefully be addressed in the future. But lets start with payments.

I want sellers to be able to reach me when I buy from them. If something goes wrong, or something happens, it is absolutely essential that they are able to contact me .

Some random app store reviewer fella. Not sure if you've ever been on the phone with them, but it does not inspire confidence at all.

Sounds like your country happens to have a particularly poor implementation of a national payment system, which has biased you into thinking Apple is somehow the only company on earth who is able to make a decent payment system. Unfortunate

Nah, I think being forced to implement it within 3 months is hostile. I think Apple refusing to send announcements through the mail is hostile. Apps are just a single frontend to a larger system, and Apple thinks they can dictate the workin

The sad truth is you're at the whims of some random app store reviewer and it depends completely on their mood of the day. It's honestly insane and impossible to work with. One day everything is fine, the next they have a list of

Not sure what you're talking about. I've been extremely happy with the dutch national payment system ideal for over a decade. I will refuse to use anything else, it is what everything and everyone in my country uses, and it works

Yet another developer-hostile apple policy. Amazing. You have to be crazy to stake your company on apple's goodwill at this point.

Fully agree. The monopoly that is apple payments needs to be stopped. It's kind of shocking how many apple fanboys there are on HN that see nothing wrong with this.
