For the about first month this was very noticeable to me. It's been about two years since and now I don't notice it at all.

Almost no one cares enough to pay for high availability and more expensive engineers who can service this. Until that changes, maintenance windows are here to stay.

Just move to another country that hasn't made deals with tax companies. Believe it or not, the government is perfectly capable of doing your taxes for you. There is no reason to waste your time on this every year other than corporate g

I trust my own judgement, thank you very much. I don't need Big Daddy Apple making all my decisions for me. Also, that has absolutely nothing to do with banning third party payment processors for IAPs. That is just criminal, or well, i

It's been obvious for years that Apple gives absolutely no fucks about destroying small businesses with their inane review processes (which change on a whim and seem to depend on the mood of the reviewer) and fees. Of course larger cor

The big question is: Can you enter arbitrary IP addresses, or do you have to replicate to another GCP instance? Azure does the latter.

Can't imagine the insane amount of memory you'd need for that. Tried neo4j a few years ago, loaded up a small dataset that fit in a 100mb postgres instance and had to stop halfway through when neo4j was consuming tens of gigabytes

It's absolutely an evil business decision, and all the clouds are playing this game. Don't ever use a hosted database solution if you're thinking about storing any significant amount of data. You will not be able to get it ou

Yep, absolutely garbage that these clouds (Azure is another one) don't allow you to replicate with external systems. Pretty much devalues their entire hosted postgresql offering if you ask me, since it's just designed to keep you

Never thought I'd see so much anti-vaccine rhetoric on hacker news. Very disappointing. @dang, maybe it's time to follow YouTube their example before this forum encourages more deaths?

Right, that just says if you don't have IPv6 support compiled in, you can't use IPv6. IPv4 is always available, and has worked wonderfully well in my experience.

Most secure would be for the device to go up in flames as soon as it detects any tampering. I sure wouldn't want to own such a device that could never be repaired.

Apple always does this for all kinds of apps. It sucks, and I don't understand why people keep on happily suffering under their abuse.

That depends entirely on what you consider insane. MacOS for example does so many things that I consider utterly batshit insane, but here we are. Lots of people love it. It's a given that a consumer operating system will do many, many
