The idea behind this is to scan diagonally by frequency so that big numbers are grouped together at the start. You can choose to zero out some of the bits near the end since those only contain high frequency components that are harder to no

Make sure you turn on the watchdog poker before you turn on the watchdog. Otherwise it can be quite annoying to turn it back off.

I want one of these in "plug" form factor that uses a normally-closed relay rather than normally-open. The reason being that the internal power supply and microcontroller could fail by shutting down, preventing things from working

Using a hardware watchdog is an alternative and it covers the additional case where the system hangs without panicking.

I've been having mechanical problems with M.2. Not only does it specify very thin PCBs for no good reason, but variable length, width, and different fasteners make M.2 a rather annoying form factor for me personally. In addition to pro

Testing this out on a simple project. As a straw poll measurement, I was seeing 4.5 to 6 seconds on version 3.9 and 4.29 to 4.4 seconds on version 3.11. Definitely a noticeable improvement, for what it's worth.

I call this the "reverse XY problem." It gets so bad sometimes that you could completely frame the problem around X, defensively excluding Y from the possibilities, and still get a bunch of responses about Y.

Even though gcc sometimes names binaries a.out, the default is to generate an ELF despite this. I wouldn't expect this to be a significant issue with random executables floating around out there.

This is a good point to bring up. I believe that spread spectrum clocking and DC-balanced line coding schemes on differential buses have allowed the rules to be bent somewhat. However there is still an EMC issue present. It would be nice to

Lots of respect for the people who build the hohlraums (gold target cylinders) since it's such a frustrating task with low yields. It paid off and achieved something.

Support, as well as detailed, rigorous documentation in a technical writing style, are definitely lacking with Mikrotik products. There is a lot of assumed knowledge in the process of specifying and then purchasing from them. However the pr

Cables like this would have spare strands to be able to handle the situation in which a single strand was compromised by a break or pinhole, and possibly a different type of jacket on each strand to manage the stresses. If a section is badl

If a cable is long enough to require amplifiers, they are spliced in. Couplers/circulators need to be in line with the doped section of fiber that forms the laser amplifier, both before and after. One of the couplers injects the pumpin

That's a common configuration for larger arrays where you probably don't want to make individual RAIDZ arrays too wide on their own. It's functionally similar to RAID 50 or 60. However when the budget is tight you might be in

It would be very cool to replace the stock radio with a software-defined radio receiver. I really doubt vehicle manufacturers would be interested in offering that, though.
