IMHO, ECS is more closer to IaaS than PaaS. And therefore the lock-in is much less bad than with the serverless PaaS approach

That we get this link today has surely nothing to do that Zelda: Tears of a Kingdom was leaked yesterday? Surely not ;) Independent of a bit sarcasm, this project is a nice showcase how versatile C# and .NET is.

The worth here is that Amazon is writing about not going into AWS PaaS native programming (what Lambda is) because it is too expensive for them. That has some newsworthiness and the title kind of reflects that.

Yes! It is about splitting your business in reasonable chunks/domain/boundaries. Pizza rules/rewrite rules ... that is all nonsense. But doing it right, is nevertheless hard. Because cutting your business into chunks ... is n

Am I the only one who sees the technical aspect here: They literally write in this article that this is about embedding web pages next to the chat/email/whatever. That means in-memory over contracted hosting api etc. When I would

This always amazes me. I see so many product web pages and they barely tell you what the product is but often there are very good products behind it

Indeed. Scott is a evangelist which promotes .NET. His circle are surely more in the blogger-sphere, conference speakers, presentation cycle etc. I am pretty sure that he has some deep connections (e.g. to the .NET team itself) but most lik

Scott should indeed rewrite that article one day (HN: shanselman ... do you read ;)). You are right with this statement. These are two different things which often correlate but not necessarily.

No he did not. He used the terminology into at least 2020. Scott Hanselman is a very prominent figure in the .NET ecosystem and speaks in tons of places. And .NET has a core problem in exactly that space: They have a huge (profitable) marke

That is the pseudo-anonymization clause there. Someone can look you up. Even if you are just a number, that is enough, if someone can link the number to an IP an from there to a person.

I would be very careful with that thought that in Prussia there was not some kind of profession (consultants) helping through he bureaucracy. It was the golden age of brokers etc. Not that I really know ;)

Rust is a unmanaged language. 99% of use cases do not need it and 99% of devs are unable to handle it's.

Rust on wasm is the same story as .net on wasm (aka blazor): it is nice if you have a single language developer workforce. But once you maintain a portal team, the benefit is gone. IMHO, the more interesting niche is desktop/mobile app

Emacs have a similar story to tell. Effectively, the browser is nowadays an Operating System running a VM. The computer history is having these kind of OS models for 50+ years now.

in theory it extract O2 from the air and produces H2O (otherwise known as water). But the devil is in the details. Also, green energy is mostly photovoltaic/wind ... so panel/wing environment costs and transport costs factor in.
