Your host might eventually drop the Node version you are running on, and then the house of cards come crashing down. You might have a dependency that doesn't support the new Node version you need to run.

Everyone goes through this once. A lot of your knowledge suddenly aren't needed anymore because of external factors. For me it was Flash. I've seen colleges being afraid of learning new technology after being burned once. Now my

I'm the kind of guy that thinks I might be able to sell it for a good price, if it is high quality, after the use. Making the total money spent way less. But that begs the question, why not rent these out for 18 months at a time?

I've worked at an web agency creating many websites for mid-sized companies (million of views each month). My conclusion is that it is about feelings. It feels good to know you have some data about your users, even if you in most cases

This is why I use Next.js for everything I do, even if I don't need SSR. All of this is set up, with options, when creating a new project. I've also looked into asp.net lately, and it seems to have just as many moving parts, only

I recommend getting a Hario V60 made of glass. It requires a bit more effort, but is easy to get right after you've done it a couple of times.

I don't have a Youtube/Google account and I don't use any of their apps, so how are they going to block me, go for my IP address? I don't see a reason to have an account, RSS works just fine for subscriptions.

I have blacklisted reddit.com on my DNS, but I will keep an eye out if my comments are restored. I deleted thousands of comments, all of them, earlier this month.

The only one I found interesting was Lemmy. It looks like old reddit and it is built on the ActivityPub protocol. I've also looked into ActivityPub the last days and it seems very logical. Someone described it as email for json. The be

You are missing the point? The hard part isn't to create the tech, it is to build a community, get a massive user base and get user that write interesting comments. There are plenty of Reddit clones, but they have to compete with each

It has been like that for a long time, but it seemed like a lot of people thought they wouldn't kill GCP. But this makes sense, they might partition GCP instead of just killing it.

I'm a mid developer. AI has made me a 1.5x developer. I see most people don't care about using AI for their work, so I don't think I will be replaced. I might be the one automating other peoples jobs in the future, just how I

The benefit of not using AR, but instead using VR, in a workplace is that you can spend less on office space. You can take any room and stuff it with small phone-booths where each worker is in a VR world. You don't have to spend money

There is a middle ground to this. Sooner or later you have to upgrade. There might be a security upgrade or the old system doesn't play nice with other systems. So you are forced to upgrade to something more non-boring, even if you are
