Not trying to be inflammatory but has the pclntab taking ~30% for binary size been fixed yet? IMO it's a pretty severe design choice.

Please give me a Frequency/Power chart so I can tell what if there is any wackiness WRT TDP.

I just want a CPU freq to power chart, so I know how Intel/AMD are pushing TDP and at what freq things start getting exponential. It would be interesting to see what is considered "normal".

First leave the company, three junior devs supporting a $20m system isn't realistic. Hey I've done this, everyone states just rewrite each part isn't really helpful. You first need to fixup obvious brokenness, turn on error l

The percona pgo fork is quite a few versions behind the crunchydata pgo which has more declarative configuration, this is what ultimately made me reconsider persona pgo.

Well that's a sinking ship, people seem to think replacing software developers is like hiring for a fry cook where you can get going in a day but in reality it's months to get up to speed and it a rotating door of devs makes for s

Is there a speed/power usage metric that benchmarks can use or just pin to a max power? A cpu boosting and using 300w is a bit much.

So this happened on a system that serves up user provided files; clam(d?) was doing some ram intensive things and oomd decided to kill it without much ceremony, this workload while ram tight worked without issue for 10+ years but this also

No, effect systems aren't a different function type, in fact you could mitigate the whole function color mess in $lang with an effect system.

I wouldn't mind more synopsis of important kernel developments and userspace things directly related to the kernel (libc, etc) and if possible lwn to poke core devs in the process to merge important things, mglru, etc. Breakdowns of in

ZFS would probably take ages to merge unless there is a simple mapping of spl -> native Linux interfaces.

Go look at the openzfs issue tracker, the people that work on zfs seem spread pretty thin for the amount of issues.

Why? IIRC something like 99% of string operations are on 20 chars or less. If you're hitting bottlenecks then optimize.

My gripe with gitlab is it's absolutely massive, compare to gitea and you miss a few features but you gain the ability for a lowly sysadmin to manage it.

With regards to the no functional programming, functional programming aspects make code less buggy for doing standard things. Sure functional programming isn't as explicit as a 5 layer dip of for loops but to me less code equals less b

I work for an emr company, integrating this with an emr might have been an alternative as a value added subscription service. There are many profitable value added services on top of industry specific applications (dental, medical, etc).

Sorry this is the k8s train, anything less than 1GB of ram is lightweight, anything less than 768MB is featherweight and anything lower than 512MB doesn't exist.

There is a huge learning curve with k8s and there really needs to be a "k8s the good parts" for tooling to use. The problem with k8s vs $custom_system is k8s is somewhat well thought out and $custom_system is generally not.
