Because you can encode the same information within the files and some dirs while keeping the benefits of a filesystem, heck you could encode what nix uses sqlite for using symlinks, files and dirs

This depends on the definition of the word microkernel, in the classical definition yes it will be much slower due to IPC, for something like an exokernel though it will be much faster than even a monolithic kernel.

With a remote workforce what is stopping people to move to South America, etc? Cost of living is rising dramatically with YoY housing prices hitting 20-30% (even in middle of nowhere) it just doesn't make sense financially if you arent
