I love go but the OP is completely right. Lack of basic collection functions is incredibly aggravating and slows down productivity substantially. At least it's not as bad as Java.

The statistics are useless. They tell you nothing about the percentage of unhappy marriages. Only the ones where it was convenient enough to be able to separate. There is also huge cultural stigma against divorce in most places. This is why

Well, the government used to enforce antitrust laws. Microsoft got into a huge anti-trust battle over simply bundling Internet Explorer with Windows. Compare this to the state of iOS, which is in far worse shape - internal APIs that only Ap

Emacs was never intended as "just a text editor" and it shouldn't strive to be one. It was the first IDE and it is infinitely better than almost any other IDE in terms of customizability. It's main drawback was a lack of

Thanks for the paper. The data tables for it just proves my point. For example, in the binary-trees test, Java used 1120 Mb. Go used 228, Rust used 180, Lisp used 373, Haskell used 494 Mb. Only Jruby and Erlang seem to require more memory u

So if I care about performance, I would use the JVM? I spent years as a performance engineer on HFT trading systems tuning JVMs. It’s possible to get very good performance on the JVM, but it is also hard and for the layman almost impossible

There’s no defending Nvidia’s approach to Linux and OSS. It is plain awful no matter how you try to twist the reality. And it is actively damaging because it forces extra work on OSS maintainers and frustrates users. You should not be requi

These Ryzen chips look like game changers for laptops. Intel has stagnated for so long in comparison. Preliminary reports show near desktop performance for the Ryzen chips, and they blow Intel mobile chips out of the water - like 200% faste
