As others have mentioned, the relationship between employee and employer seems to be more openly regarded as a business arrangement (which it always was) and not as much of a place-to-be-loyal-to than I’ve historically seen. Getting let go

Yeah. Backups are quite hard to maintain. Hetzner storage boxes are pretty good from what I’ve found. They get backed up and are easily available

I’m not too sure. There exist tools that can export data so perhaps that process can be used. Otherwise, you probably need to figure it out one way or another. Knowing myself, I would destroy my own data with accidental deletion or removing

All right. I try my best to keep my adverts as random as possible(if they appear at all), since somehow it feels like I'm being passively influenced by viewing the same sort of adverts suggesting I buy stuff repeatedly. The way they&#x

You know, though I am not sure of how well-known it is outside of tech circles. I agree with the second point. Facial recognition for demographic stats seems kinda reasonable if it's anonymised properly, but people don't like thei

I wonder where the line in the sand exists for what people feel is “okay” tracking and “not okay” tracking. Here it seems to be that almost universally, the students dislike the facial recognition. Many folks I’ve spoken to otherwise don’t

Thanks. I tried Tidal for a while. The experience was pretty good and audio quality too. Not quite worth the price for me though. Will try Apple Music since I have that with Apple One.

You’re pretty much the model consumer for these companies. So, well done I suppose. On the why; up to you. Depends on how much you value your privacy or trust the companies with your data. If you’re fine with them knowing your whole life, t

Probably try to find someone to do it for me. This sort of thing is massively complex due to international law and tax differences. You can maybe abstract the issue a bit by using tokens like bits then paying out, rather than using currency

Fastmail is a smaller company, focused on email and calendars, but it does it well and you’re unlikely to be subject to random algorithm nukes and having to sit through the nonexistent Google support channels. The more folk that get out of

Fastmail is great. I use them for pretty much all of my mail. A bit perplexed about why this is only for new accounts. Maybe they’re gathering data on how people use the offerings before potentially losing customers by messing with existing

Out of interest, how many other folk here use LinkedIn in this manner? Admittedly I find LinkedIn for the most part a pretty horrible place. It’s filled with dark patterns, people never really being genuine and thus always in a weird sort o

I would straight-up uninstall your project and take any measures possible to remove myself from your platform (if any) if I discover an underhanded change like this. A medium? Ask people. FOSS is different. There is a level of expected tran

I think your needs are specific enough that you should build your own. To enforce the rules you could include a GitHub bot that runs on all repos and does the checks as part of normal GitHub checks.

So, what? Everything in the world that anyone makes needs to be free of the author’s opinionated way of how to do things or how they like them done? Honestly, just use something else if you care that much about it. Or make your own. But don

C# is a language but not a limiting factor to making a game. GDScript is for the most part fine to work with. Issues on other platforms is also something that will improve over time. Unity has not shown good faith in the least.
