In my limited Pub/Sub experience, this seems to be how it works. You publish to a topic (an immutable stream), and then create a decoupled subscription that reads messages from the topic. Am I missing something?

I will admit that the party support plan is a bit pricey.

Also I've found the network load balancer to be amazingly better than ELBs.

In the ones they mentioned, GCE vs EC2, GCS vs S3, and BigQuery vs Redshift, they seem pretty comparable to me.

Yeah, AWS docs are really not very good in my limited experience. Google's docs have some pretty good parts, but they can be hard to find. Authentication is still kind of confusing on GCP.

For the lowest support plan (Silver), high priority issues were addressed pretty quickly. Low priority ones are a bit slow, but hey, they're low priority. Plus the Silver support plan is very cheap.

Part B there is why I suspect this tech talent shortage is not as real as it's made out to be. If there was a shortage, they would totally care.

I think some of these problems are solved by HTTP/2 multiplexing. My experience at least with using REST for APIs seems to agree with yours. REST APIs, like traditional OO programming, seem to only help in a small number of situations

I track the pubsub subscribers on each client connection, but I'm not sure what you mean by a multiplexed process for the pubsub channel. Depending on your traffic patterns, considering the broadcast activity is potentially important,

Now that you can buy servers in tiny linear increments, it seems more interesting (but less headline-y) to talk about KB per connection or CPU per connection. It looks like this is about 41KB per connection. For comparison, I checked my n

I'm sure there's no problem that can't be created by a sufficiently bad PM. I think you can treat the name of the city as the name of the timezone. Seems like you'd have the same problem either way. If you used "M

Unicode hurts workers, families, & community! Shame on the Unicode Consortium! If we got rid of DST and didn't change the rules too often, time zones wouldn't really be that big of a deal.

We have clocks that are wrong all the time already, I'm not sure how that makes date time libraries worse. GPS satellites are in space, they have to deal with relativity effects, and mostly everything seems fine.

Seems like if they did some other metric, it could overcount the number of CPUs instead, right? What about changing GOMAXPROCS once per minute in a goroutine that calls NumCPU()?

Well specifically it would be cool if it counted the optimal number to set GOMAXPROCS to, since I think that's like the main use of runtime.NumCPU().

So it looks from the diagram the spans point to arbitrary points in the mark bitmaps. Does that mean there's a lookup table to map from span to mark bitmap/offset?
