I think this is a learnt skill. If you're not constantly engaging with new material, asking questions on what you're reading, learning with intent, then your brain isn't going to evolve from this baseline on its own randomly.

How so? The idea here is that being successful on any venture is half chance (luck). If you're creating more chances (putting in the work, "being prepared") you're creating more chances.

One of my fondest AHK memories was back when I created a bot for a runescape private server when I was younger. It clicked on pixels of a certain character in game to thieve an NPC, and could detect full inventory, bank and go again.
