What’s our alternative? It doesn’t seem to be “carefully consider and apply to a handful of highly relevant postings”. I don’t see the downsides for candidates to play the numbers game.

How do you store a stream? Don’t they just spray around the internet here and there, and if you don’t catch them in the moment, they’re just gone?

My hope is that it will one day be able to attenuate the speech of people I'm not trying to listen to.

I wanted to try this for auditory processing disorder, but I passed the hearing test with flying colors, so it won't let me try. Is this some regulatory thing?

The NES PPU outputs a luma, chroma and sync directly, so it has to be converted at some point.

I have a treadmill though. Even though I don't use it. I can't get a quantum computer.

Man, reading this makes me feel so small. Being a "software engineer" consuming APIs and updating database rows seems laughably childish compared to whatever the hell it is I just read. I can't even imagine why I should bothe

Negative mass was what I was going for with "antimass". For some reason I thought that was a common term but I guess it is not.

With a splash of antimass in that confusion too

I helped my friend instal one of these closed source ones and I never saw the point. They shut down their integration with his Alexa and other automations later which was amusing, but it kind of just showed off the fact that, yeah, you pret

What is the meaning of "self-refreshing" there, though? That sounds like a lot of work.

The Babylon Bee has gotten better, but it's still pretty amateurish compared to the best of The Onion. It's nice to have a satirical publication that leans the other way for balance.

When The Onion itself goes bankrupt in the not too distant future, can Alex Jones buy the Onion and get the domain back?

Eventually, yes? Everywhere I’ve ever worked has treated sprints as an endless series of 2 week deadlines. (Yes, I understand this is not “real” agile. I’ve never seen “real” agile and don’t personally know anyone who has.)

With Agile, I have found that I'm never able to just take a day off here and there. I need to take enough time off that I can meaningfully commit to taking less work in the sprint, otherwise my day off just leads to working nights and

I am currently sitting in a dot-com crash Aeron chair that I got for a very good price 25 years ago, behind the IKEA Jerker desk I bought at the same time. They are the best purchases I have ever made.

When your lifestyle suddenly has to change in drastic ways because of a rapid increase in prices none of this makes anyone feel any better. "Think about how much worse it COULD be, kids!"

by nsxwolf 2y ago
Absolutely not. Inflation hit us very hard and we had to make real lifestyle changes to get back in the black.

Those are long hauls, but in Illinois it’s pretty common to drive to places like Nashville or Atlanta. We drive to Orlando so that we don’t have to deal with flying. That’s a long one but not bad. An EV would add a lot of time and risk.
