Here's one of my favorites for dealing with logging repetitive enum names and the like: enum foo { FOO_THING_ONE, FOO_THING_TWO, FOO_THING_THREE, ... FOO_THING_SEVEN_HUNDRED }; // Using

Honest question: From a climate change point of view, burying anything that contains carbon is basically the definition of sequestering that carbon. Why is it bad to bury anything that contains carbon? The obvious response, I think, would

This is one of the reasons that I use Google Sheets regularly for such tasks at work. The API allows you to do all the hard work in your language of choice and the post the output into a spreadsheet for viewing or other manipulation better

If I were a betting man, this is where I'd put my money. It seems attainable via software or hardware assisted processing once the model has been computed. All the other solutions seem too expensive or hardware intensive to me.

Not to sound overly pessimistic, but I no longer trust Google to keep features beyond a couple years, let alone for time on the order of a lifespan. I honestly believe that deadmanhandle is more likely to be around longer than this gmail f

I don't ask brain-teasers during an interview, but time and time again the value of a simple coding assignment has proven its worth. It is simply amazing to me how many candidates seem to lack the basic ability to code a couple of nes

And let's not forget the burnout. In this description it feels like you could almost replace 'novel' with 'large solo software project' and have a pretty accurate accounting of that process as well.

If you're alone, you could use this "one simple trick" (from 2007) to up the realism by quite a bit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd3-eiid-Uw It would look goofy for a copilot, but it would make a world of

Battery University ( https://batteryuniversity.com/ ) has a wealth of knowledge on this subject. LiIon cells are quite temperamental, especially when it comes to extreme climates as it turns out.

I dunno...does anyone really believe that the job they had in high school was going to be the start of a lifelong career? For most of us, having a job at that age was more about learning to cope with real life. Learning to work with other

It seems like there are so many ways to tackle this problem. Don't like USB? Allow the Tesla app to grab the map updates and then dump them to the car next time it connects. If they're trying to grab the file in one massive 8GB c

I, too, met my now-wife on a MUD back in the mid 90s. It's a great story to tell, especially now in the age of Match.com and the like. "How did you know she wasn't some 300lb neck-beard named Jerry?" "I didn't
