Maybe, but we can still fight plenty of mob wars that way.

I've been thinking a lot about happiness, learning, and experiences. When you get right down to it, we only have a few short years in the sun. 80 years is less than nothing when compared to the age of the earth - let alone the solar system

What's so great about Windows 7? For starters, it offers everything you want in an OS: Programs load and run quickly, your computer pretty much never crashes, and the system mostly stays out of your way. It's striking to me that a compute

Hamsters are the best. I had several growing up. They're personable - you can "cage-train" them and they learn not to bite. They're hilarious when they roll around in their ball -- and remember to cover your stairs! They do the cutest thi

I noticed this too. He was also miffed at the Folsom St. Fair. It's very interesting how social media gives you much more context around someone's blog posts.

Fixed! Good call. (and a huge thanks from a 3.0.1 user)

Note: it requires iPhone OS 3.1. If you're like me, and you've been holding onto 3.0.1 because it allows you to tether, you're out of luck. Unless there's a material reason to require 3.1, I really hope they drop it down to 3.0x. Comments o

My dad is a chaperone (one of the people at the door who greet and help orient you) at an Apple store in Tennessee. He's in his early 60s, retired, but he really likes the vibe around the store with the (mostly) much younger staff. Plus, he

I like the overall design changes, but the experience is notably slower. The site longer uses ajaxy tabs for navigation; now each tab is a separate page to load.

I don't think it's quite accurate to call Twitter ephemeral, though. All kinds of third-party services are trying to index and archive as many tweets as possible, plus there's always the possibility that Twitter will cut a more formal deal

They weren't retweets, though each tweet was the same. Macheist was using OAuth to actually post a tweet on your behalf.

Last time Macheist ran a bundle sale, they had a special offer where, if you allowed Macheist to tweet on your behalf, you'd get some additional free software along with your purchase. This, of course, resulted in a massive Macheist tweetfe

I can't imagine well-sourced rumors are all that commonplace about a company as secretive as Apple. Probably you have to go with what you're given on the rare occasions you get precious little anything at all.

As one commenter noted, this really cuts down on the already-small number of reasons I have to justify pirating music.

Yes, quite frequently. It makes you a terrible coder, but I wouldn't go to a live concert now without it.

I'm not an NBA buff, but for what it's worth, it is apparently somewhat routine for insiders with direct knowledge of athlete trade deals to deliberately leak details even before the deal has closed. This particular story just has the added

Download it somewhere else first, then you have many choices for transferring it over. USB drive, network share drive, dropbox, etc.

I'm not so sure. Perhaps the iPod feels better, in part, because it is easier to use, faster, holds more music, or integrates better with your computer? These can be objectively measured, whereas "feeling" cannot.

The knee-jerk reaction, for many in the west, is to condemn this censorship as an invasion of privacy, or an unnecessary restriction on free speech, or an example of the old phase "the tighter you grip, the more will slip through your finge

I wouldn't say it's politically-charged as much as it's linkbait and a bit of an overgeneralization.

Apple has always tried to control all aspects of its platform, hardware, and software, so I don't think we should be surprised by its draconian rules governing the app store. That said, I think it's pretty clear by now to most of us that iP

I smoke a lot too and this is spot on about weed making coding much more difficult. The funny thing is, at work we have a code word for weed - "code". We've been joking about coding for months now...

Yeah, we've had a lengthy (but polite!) email back-and-forth with the landlord about this. Honestly, I think at this point he's just calling our bluff - that we won't move because of all the hassle involved. But we're all 20-somethings, so
