I felt silly at first complaining to my wife I couldn’t get myQ working again, thinking I did something wrong after adding an automation. We tried to open the door (remote via hass) for my son when he got home but it didn’t work. Obviously

I’ve been slowly integrating more devices to my home assistant setup—most recent a garage door controller—and I thought I was done for now and content with the setup. After reading this I can’t help but plan out the next several weekends to

Somewhat related, I learned a long time ago that each broadcast station (in the USA) mix their audio in a different way during NFL and college football games. I noticed Fox sports mixes crowd noise at a higher level—-drowning out the announ

Thanks for that reminder. I had to delete an app I had running since 2013. Up until the moment before I committed to deleting it, I felt no emotion at all. But right after I confirmed deletion, I felt like an animal I had on the farm died.

I (43 yr) had a moment where I showed how important it was for our family to understand cursive when we had to transcribe recipes and letters from ancestors (mom, grandparents, etc.) for my daughters (16yr and younger) who wanted to bake fa

Really happy to see Dr. Chan do this. We were in the same research group at UCSD and he helped me a ton when I started learning how to write a research paper and deal with optimizing matlab code for image and video algorithms. Now he’s expo

“exo-brain (tech-)tools” is a form of cognitive offloading [0], right? [0] Risko EF, Gilbert SJ. Cognitive Offloading. Trends Cogn Sci. 2016 Sep;20(9):676-688. doi: 10.1016/j.tics.2016.07.002. Epub 2016 Aug 16. PMID: 27542527.

I was thinking the same question. I could only find C++ implementation at https://github.com/ttlappalainen/NMEA2000 which I assume you have found as well.

quote from article: "As a side note: if Lel ever becomes popular enough that people argue about tabs vs spaces, or if function bodies belong on a newline always, that will absolutely make my life." That unexpectedly made me LOL.

Exactly; when work gets more demanding I unintentionally stop working out and eat fast food and I notice a significant increase in depression. I actually need to take more effort to work out, eat healthy when work is more demanding (or kid

The nytimes illustration. The subject keeps straight back in the original article. Doing this exercise wrong can really screw things up.

Maybe I'm just emotional today but the "Acknowledgments" section for the accepted journal was touching. I can only imagine what it felt like to complete the work of a good friend.

Sorry to be picky, but there's a typo on the site. The author of the site wrote "harverst" instead of "harvest" in the second sentence after "Overview". It kind of sticks out to me.
