People don't want to be drug addicts and live a poor existence to feed a habit. They have problems, they use the drugs to medicate or fit in, the problems compound with drug use, so they use more to deal with the problems more. They ar

Solving community problems come with community sacrifices. I'm a big proponent of housing first, drug rehab second. It is exponentially harder to get clean without housing and a support network. Decriminalizing drug addiction is a good

It goes out to all the cloudfront edge locations so that generally isn't an issue. That being said anything under 300ms is not going to be very noticeable to most people.

Fair points, I tend to conflate agile and scrum since they seem to be coupled together. I get that the dedicated part isn't a requirement, it just seems to be part of most implementations I see. I guess my problem is more with people&#

Yeah I always see scrum masters as trying to play engineering manager or play at a role that isn't theirs nor are they qualified for. They also seem to think most engineers are stupid and can't even walk without hand holding.

Cylance at first used to be pretty good about not doing that, but they took a turn for the worst.

All that really matters is the entry point size in modern application. I built an admin console for our company in react and it's downloaded and rendered in 220ms. People can make performant SPA's they just choose not to.

I don't think it is a maturity thing. It's a you have customers and business requirements to satisfy and if certain criteria are not met than the feature is kind of useless. I work at an org with around 5000 people and there is no

Honestly, the part about agile I dislike the most is a dedicated scrum master role. They have very little to do if they aren't split between multiple teams and instead try to come up with weird ways to add value which usually don'

I don't agree that the existence of SWAT teams is a problem. Other countries without aggressive police presence also have something comparable for situations that are out of the norm. It's more the amount of SWAT teams we have and

Yes the local cost of living matters, however it also depends on how you define success. If the minimum wage constitutes an overall increase in wages then you could consider that successful by some metrics. However if success is defined by

It's just a different medium and plenty of people love it nostalgia or not. I bet a ton of people who never grew up with pixel art games enjoy them today and there would be no nostalgia for them.

It is inconvenient to carry cash though. I would gladly tip cash if I didn't have to drive to an ATM just to get it thereby defeating the purpose of having something delivered.

My main problem with remote work is there seems to be a lack of upward mobility. Most of the interactions I've had that have accelerated my career were face to face and wouldn't have happened over slack or email. Something to cons

People don't want to be judged by merit? Isn't that the essence of the value employees provide to a business?

This could be done tastefully, but the examples they are showing seem rather extreme and not tasteful at all. I'd probably not even read a resume that had a "By The Numbers" section. It's such a useless metric to try to

Hooks still show up without variable names associated with them (I say still because I was using this before release). I assumed they would try to find a way around it. In the current state the hooks support is useless.

I've gotten Gimp working pretty nicely by using some theme packs or something that make it look and function more like photoshop. Agree on the rest though. I use LaTeX, markdown, or google docs depending on intended audience.
