It's a good example of why some of us don't trust cloud computing/storing your data online with any random company. If the very well funded Apple can screw up this badly, just think what most places could manage.

It makes me laugh too. Here in the UK has cost more than $100 to fill up a Ford Focus for at least a year. God known how much a full fill up of a Hummer would cost.

Trac (at least the way most projects have it set up) is pretty new user unfriendly. This is ok if your project is targetted at users who are developers, but if you want fresh blood and the less (initially) motivated to get drawn in a priori

It's a real disaster that Adobe Reader sucks so much. PDF is a wonderful document format - other readers open it in seconds and it works on everything (including Linux, OS X and most phones). But thanks to Adobe if you ever send a PDF file

One of the guys in the Techcruch thread pulled together a functional clone in a day on his own. So the other three days and eight people must have been for the drawings and the publicity :)

You will lose one type of negotiating leverage and gain another. Once you have been there a while your true value will be obvious (especially when you produce, in a _nice way_, comprehensive documentation at your first performance review).

I think that one of the major factors in the iMac selling well is that there is no cheaper box-only OS X offering* to canabalise it's sales. *Excluding the mini, which is too far below to really be a direct iMac competitor.

If the salary is industry competative then the only thing you need the stock for is to compensate you for risk of losing your job. Given that any losses you have are likley to be limited to a few months salary (unless you work in a field wi

The old 900: 2 hours battery life. The new 901: 5 hours battery life. With the same disk (SSD), battery and screen. The only significant component change is the processor. If the disk peaks at 2W/4W (SSD/SP) and is mostly idle then you woul

A good enough rate of return is 10% - most companies operate on 10-15% IRR. What you need to rememeber is that this 10-15% is AFTER adjustment, ie write offs for risk, overheads etc. In government contracting (fairly low risk), with a targe

'Operating systems that aren't Windows' are already at 10% if you count Linux. (Which you probably should - the benefit is the end of monoculture, not the promotion of a new replacement monopoly.)

The finance guys are buying operational experience by funding you. Their goal is a good rate of return. They have (or should have) no interest in running your business, because they already have a business of their own to manage.
