Increased competition is a good thing. I’m glad several companies are in this space. It’s only a problem if a single provider is a monopoly and uses that to squeeze out other companies in order to raise prices. We’re very far off from tha

I don't actually watch those shows - I watched them a long time ago. I've just noticed that for many years, Netflix would show that their most-watched show was The Office. And I'm sitting here thinking -- all of this new con

I believe we’re in a content bubble. All the old television networks, Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Apple, and others are pumping out more mediocre TV than anyone wants or cares to consume. The quality is too low and the quantity is too high. I

@dang, the title should probably be: "Making Open Source software safer and more secure" This isn't just a Google thing, lots of companies were at the summit.

Most comments here are completely missing why this is happening now. Students don’t want to pay tens of thousands of dollars for remote learning. They could watch Khan Academy videos instead for free, and they’d be better quality.

Even better, there's zero accountability for himself or any of the 50 democratic senators who passed on cosigning Hawley's bill when this also goes nowhere. The senate is 50/50, this logic works both ways. Either party could

But the question is if you want to work at the 21% of companies that use Microsoft. Based on my own experience, you probably don't. They tend to be legacy companies in low-growth areas and lower pay.

Blaming bullies is the new "get out of jail free" card. Google just deployed the same logic to remove dislike counts on YouTube, despite those being valuable for users.

I agree, Covid has been a catalyst for the change. But 1) the start of the shift pre-dates Covid and 2) suburbs are booming with in-person activity, so it's not just Covid.

People supporting "new urbanism" -- a camp I was in until pretty recently -- should come look around downtown Seattle and see how it's working out. Our downtown is a grim wasteland. Shoppers, workers and residents have voted

I am happy to tip based on social norms, but I despise dark patterns, and that's what's being used here to try and inflate tips. Nobody is rationalizing a larger tip saying, "I will tip more to avoid doing mental math."

This article is beyond absurd. It's bending over backwards to promote how tipping is actually for the tipper's benefit. And that recommending large tips via touch screen menus is so helpful in saving them the time to do mental

To actually answer the question: because immunity from one transfers to the other. Omicron is basically a self-administering vaccine that is preventing Delta from spreading as easily.
