What surprises me the most is that the customer managed to actually speak to a person from Google support. Must have been a pretty big private cloud deployment. Edit: saw from the other replies that the customer was Unisuper. No wonder they

Misunderstanding. I’m talking about the death of the buzzword, not the death of what it represents. AI is here to stay but eventually it will die out as a buzzword and as a trend to be made to fit in places it has no reason being in. Big Da

I think maybe my point was misunderstood. I was trying to say that the employee tried to do what’s good for the company. However that backfired as his personal, and his manager’s, success vector are not aligned with the company’s. Hence alt

I don’t know you are downvoted. Aligning the personal interest vector with the companies interest vector is a huge problem that is usually underrepresented in NH comments. Usually we only complain about the short sighting of the CEOs that p

After driving a model Y for 6 months now, I really really dislike it. It’s easily worse driving experience that my old 10yo Corolla. But, after trying the FSD for 30, I was pretty impressed. You do have to pay attention but it’s usually eas

They really need to tone down the talking garniture. It needs to put on its running shoes and get to the point on every reply. Ain’t nobody has time to keep listening to AI blubbering along at every prompt.

My take is that people hate this ad because unintentionally it made them look at the mirror. Like “look what beautiful things you have traded for this single couch computer”. They realized that they too have helped in enabling Apple to squa

A reply is always in the context of the thing that is being replied on. It’s how replies work… If there is an article about berries and you say you love blueberries and I reply saying “I hate them”, it in the context of blueberries. It does

They say that at the time they were an “Enthusiastic Young Dev” but worked for a Fortune 500 company reporting directly to the CTO and interacting directly with the customer and leading a team. Something doesn’t add up or is it just me?

No HUD. Auto sensing wipers that never actually sense when it’s raining. Lack of physical buttons. No way to keep the sun out of the car making it feel like a greenhouse. Much less A/C vents than other cars. Plastic horrible interiors.

Sure we would fall behind in some stuff, especially AI, but does it really matter if suddenly all we have is 2-5 year old CPU technology? Mostly everything should work as good as it does today. We will just need a bit more power.

Ugh, I am not claiming that LLMs are not great innovation. Just that they are not going to replace SWE jobs in our(maybe my) lifetime.
