They could offer a subscription model, and then make it a monthly "game" of deciding where your money's going to go. Lots of people are willing to become sustaining members of charities. Or, I'm a member of a meta-charity called Foundation

I don't think the article puts enough emphasis on gas prices driving car sales. When I first started driving in 1999-2000, gas prices were under $2.00 USD. When I fill up at lunch today, it'll be around $3.89.

> the first human every woman can say was her... I think that's a typo, should be: "...first woman every human ...". All of us have Mitochondrial Eve as our matrilineal MRCA, not just those with two X chromosomes.

I wasn't speaking about the law, I was speaking about moral behavior. Consent which is anything less than enthusiastic should be frowned upon, at the very least, by all of us.

Yeah, I dunno, I'm not getting it. It's a synchronous experience, but none of the pictures I've seen so far are funny. Not one iota of this whole discussion matters if it's not entertaining.

Maybe... IANAEE but chip design and materials is probably still important for all that. It's not necessarily a regular chip wrapped in heat/radiation/whatever shielding. I'm trying to google around a bit for more info but have to get back t

One of the journos asked about that, and it sounds like probably not. I know @elakdawalla was live-tweeting it, so she might mention it. Anyway the gist was that they had not predicted that debris would get kicked up like that (or at least

...And @MarsCuriosity JUST tweeted NASA's version of the stitch: http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/msl/multimedia/pia16027.ht... Looks like some different distortion correction, cropping, and levels correction was done between the two.

Those are from vastly different source pictures, I think. The "original" was from mostly thumbnails and a couple full-res pics, I believe, whereas the "fixed" one is from the high-res pics they just released today. They just had a press con

I'm not sure, besides posting a giant "WE'RE REALLY NOT PIRATES, HERE'S WHY: (link)" at the top of your page, but then it might be a "doth protest too much" sort of turn-off to potential users.

Personally I'd be very wary of that. As I said on another comment, this is a planned two-year mission. So if they drop-in a compatible component and later found out there was a manufacturing problem that shortens its life, that's not accept

This is not a point-and-shoot camera for your grandma to use. It's hardened against radiation, vibration, heat, cold, dust, etc., sending back high-quality RAW images for a planned two-year mission. So no, it's not "$100 more".
