OFF-TOPIC: is there a good reason the sidebar repositions itself on every windows.scroll instead of just setting position:fixed in the CSS? It's jittery and distracting when scrolling.

> When we are guests in someone else's home, seems only fair that we honor their requests. This is a ridiculous analogy. It's not a home, it's a business. If my friends want me to take my shoes off when I visit them, no big deal. If Bes

That's not the sentiment she's expressing, though. You generally give people some amount of trust to begin with, right? That's all she's talking about.

Do not contemplate the whims of the Hackertariat. A curious pinpoint of darkness soon grows closer, eventually enveloping you in its yawning black, chilling the marrow and ensnaring the wits. Artifacts and whispers float by but become dust

That's the etymology, not the definition. Just because a word once meant something doesn't mean it still does. EDIT: "a covering for the hand made with a separate sheath for each finger and for the thumb." http://dictionary.reference.com/b

I might agree if the text wasn't so wide (edit: on my screen, at least). Longer lines are less readable because you can't easily find the next line when your eye flicks back to the left after finishing a line.

I think they were asking for examples of white-knighting, which is not what your story was about. Not that it wasn't worth sharing, it just didn't answer knowtheory's question.

I think you're making the mistake of critiquing the beards thing in isolation. The point is that it's a drop in a bucket. You can look at any individual marketing campaign and come up with perfectly valid reasons it's not really sexist, b

Nobody said it reflected the majority of males. Nobody said it makes the whole industry sexist. Nobody said everyone is sexist. Nobody is basing their opinion on one incident. Tell me more about this "straw man fallacy", though.

See, but the fact that you're reading about it at all, that people are arguing about it at all , means we're doing better. The fact that outrage about sexism even exists is progress. It's the (slight) progress of shining a harsh light

I don't think anybody disagrees with any of those points, but they're blatantly obvious. Which would be fine if there was useful advice for how to improve at those areas, but there isn't.
