This is why the article discusses "pausing" these types of payments for everyone from the average person to fortune 500s. If the Landlords are in a similar position (i.e. their "rent" and other debt payments are paused a

An incredible improvement. I really hope they improve notifications at some point. In some channels, I don’t even want the bold font indicating unread messages.

Isn’t the app an electron app? I imagine they try to share UI. Not sure about that though, it’d be interesting to learn more.

I wonder if Amazon can offer some kind of good-will insurance here. Like “if our system mistakenly looses a customer money, we’ll cover it for you.”

In the Amazon Go stores, there are still price labels on the shelves, if I recall correctly. Nothing stopping a retailer from doing that.

I mean, GitHub allows you to squash merge a PR, which is what we do at work. I find it really simple to summarize everything in the PR in that squash commit that ends up on master. I only rebase/squash locally if I need to make it easi

Additionally, one could sacrifice on features and use GitHub projects instead of Trello. That’s what we do at work. Not great, but pretty painless for tracking dev work

Exactly the thought I had. I do generally agree with the feeling that consumerism fuels waste and therefore unneeded emissions, but to suggest that radical change happens at the personal level and not at the corporate level seems off. To th

I feel like image performance on the web is good enough at this point that folks aren’t holding back. Sites with images (Reddit, imgur, Facebook, etc) are crammed with images already. Even for a personal site, I wouldn’t hold back on sticki

I mean, it’s the recurring costs that aren’t usually covered, like internet. My company is fully remote and I’m reimbursed for my home office equipment (computer, desk, chair, router, etc) and for all travel. Even for working from a coffee

Isn’t Github following the document model? At least, that’s my impression of how the UI works (I.e. none of the consistent UI elements stick around as you navigate)

I’ve done a trial project which was after an initial (much shorter) code test which was non paid. The trial earned me a couple grand and I got a 1099 alongside my w2 at the end of the years since I was hired full time.

I’ve got to agree with you. Selfishness in your job at Boeing, perhaps, means you care less about the safety of the plane and more about doing the minimum you can. Maybe that means you don’t report something you may have if you were more in

Fair enough, for sure, but the statistic doesn’t really get at that point directly. It’d be better to say “50% fewer non-agricultural birds were alive in 2019 than in 2018” (or whatever the stat is) if that’s the point they wish to make.

The problem is that it’s an addiction — I was addicted, so I would still access those apps via the browser. Until I permanently deleted all of my accounts, I would still be looking at them for hours a day. Even now, I waste my time with Red

If you want an “app,” it makes sense to do a lot of stuff client side — especially if you’re trying to edit or create something in the app (I.e. Google Docs, Gutenberg editor in WordPress, Microsoft office online apps). If you want a landin

I really enjoy unroll.me because it allowed me to easily unsubscribe from the thousands of junk emails making it into my inbox. If I want to see some things, they are added to my “rollup” which is delivered daily. Turns out, I rarely read i

Taking a brief look at the react code [0] and comparing it with the svelte code [1], it appears the svelte code handles much less. For example the react example handles the following among others: - programmed to handle arbitrary conversion

I totally agree. A specific example I found insulting was Portland, OR. He uses it as an example for his argument, but the reality is that our LRT is still supported by a vastly larger bus network. I live a 15 minute walk / 5 minute dr

I haven’t been here long, but I can typically grab a bus everywhere that LRT isn’t. Like the article says, busses can take you to LRT stations and there are a lot of examples of stations bus routes feed into (Gateway TC, Loyd Center, Parkro
