No, they didn't. I think they should have though. I went from working basically 6 to 6 to 8:30 to 5. It was pretty obvious. Someone wrote on my employee review that they could tell I wasn't passionate about my job and it shows sometime, but

Here's how I handled it. I went to my employeer and said, "I'm unhappy here and I'd like to move back home anyway" and he asked how I was unhappy, and I explained I didn't really like my job and I tried some different things inside the comp

Look into Micro Opportunities b http://www.gabrielweinberg.com/blog/2010/10/startup-micro-op... To keep something going you have to make it news again. In some ways this is easier, because it already was news and this is more of an update.

The main thing to do after this is leverage this and get written up again and again. You can google search for "How to contact a journalist/blogger." Basically, you want to appear everywhere within two months of the first major news story.

So, you've got coverage already. Awesome! Use the stair step technique. Who is slightly bigger than your college's website? City/State Paper? And then build from there!

I grew up relatively poor, in a small town (800 people), didn't do that great in college, went to a no-name college in the midwest. I used to think like you "How will I ever compete" And then I started to meet people the exact opposite of w

I would avoid a market sector with no competition. If you have no competition, you're probably creating a problem to solve. Sometimes competition is a bad word to use though, and it is better to think of as alternatives. For example, the fi

The only way to make this work is to offer small businesses a 'package' solution and not consulting. Small business consulting sucks because of 1,000 reasons, but mostly because you aren't paid anything, aren't paid on time and are viewed m

I'm tired of this 'ideas suck' meme on hacker news as well. For that you get the up-vote. But, You're getting it wrong in that one idea is better than another. That's not really the point. The point is that your STARTING idea sucks, while o

It is interesting that you point that out. I had typed that out and then deleted it. Basically, Google is starting backwards with gmail being used by everyone and then trying to build what a particular niche wants. I think the problem here

It's hard to know what will disrupt them. But, it seems there is a formula. 1. Pick a niche (college kids) 2. Build what they want 3. Let it trickle down (high school) or up (grandma) or out (businesses) to gain mass. So while we can't pick
