Ok totally fair! This does not work for dinner party planning. I was thinking more as an answer to “hey are you going to this party on Saturday?”

This is perhaps slightly orthogonal to the main discussion here on this thread, but I have a question for Zach (and the various engineers posting on this thread): Did you guys talk to real-world users while building this and before this lau

BTW I kinda love your quantum planning approach. It's honest and accurate! If you're 50/50 on going to something, be transparent and tell others that. If they don't like it, that's on them, not you.

I'll affirm and agree with the sibling comments here: I know lots of people who live in / spent time in LA and they report the same thing -- that lots of people there are just flakey on plans. I don't think the fact that lot

I was going to write exactly this and I'm glad you beat me to it (and that someone else is experiencing this benefit). It's obviously not a replacement for a human writing a big program (yet...), but it does a damn fine job of gi

I really, truly don't understand how any bank in the year 2022 can only give you 1 year of electronic access, but this is actually the case! This cannot be an uncommon scenario (and yet it's happened to me so many times): April

Oh great question and ahh now we're getting into the good stuff! If you make a copy of your brain (or upload your brain or teleport) do you die and get reborn or are you a continuous conscious entity? :) :)

One of the best, simple, grokkable mental models I've ever encountered on this (admittedly existential) topic is one that we HNers should all appreciate: What happens when your code starts running? A process is allocated from memory,

I am DEFINITELY not a lawyer so as others have said, talk to your counsel about this. Having said that: The SAFE is a contract. The contract states in the first line "in exchange for the payment by [Investor Name]". If the inve

I discovered something like this in real-world usage. I’ve have GitHub Copilot running in VSCode and I’ve been experimenting with how it works when doing plain text accounting (using ledger / hledger). The ledger files are somewhat “c

Every time there's a thread on HN about advertising, there's at least a few comments (there are already some in this thread) that claim, loudly, "Ads don't work on me! I never buy things based on ads!". The thing i

If anyone here is a ham (DE K2KD), you may appreciate that when I first got into amateur radio in the early 90s, a restored Heathkit SB-200 linear amp was like the gold mine of gold mines. It cost about $500 (+ tubes) and would get your “s

Exactly. An increasingly common thing lately is what’s effectively a “private IPO”. That’s what this sounds like - liquidity for investors / staff, and ownership to a small cadre of professionally managed funds vs. the Wild West open

Your first example is great -- in a correctible situation (as with code, or writing, or design), it works and is helpful. You should have used, should have written, should have drawn, etc. But I respectfully disagree with your second examp

This is a great example - thank you. Rephrasing as a "you should have", it would read: "You should have been able to finish this in 2-4 weeks, but it took you 6 months. What went wrong?" That's actually useful fee

I agree with this sentiment. And in fact, I’ll take it further: I’m not sure any “you should have” phrase is ever beneficial UNLESS it’s in the context of giving guidance about the future. And even then, it’s better to phrase it as “next t

A non-financial suggestion: > I have no desire to expand the operation for many reasons. I’m perfectly happy working on it full time myself and don’t want to change anything. This is a GREAT attitude. Don’t let others sway you from it.
