But they were pointing out that what WebGL does would never pass their security reviews. This isn't even the IE team from my understanding but the security team at Mircosoft making this statement. I'm sure they work on multiple projects.

Well to be fair Gregg Tavares works directly on the issue since he is part of the team implementing WebGL in chrome. He might not have Carmack's insane amount of knowledge about the subject but I wouldn't discount Tavares' views completely

No one is ignoring the issues. The author was never saying their wasn't security issues. He even states some of the steps that the Chrome team and the Firefox team (who are working together on this) are taking to make WebGL more secure. The

You would think that a politician would see that as a prime way to get votes. "The FBI cares more about you downloading a song off the internet then about your child being abducted. We need to get their priority straight. Vote for XYZ 2012"

SO if I understand this correctly, by buying the coins at ridiculously low prices and the fact that in the post he said it was weird and he tried to take advantage of it. Would he not completely fail the test?

Interesting story, I personally think that their age was the major reason for being left out. Both ideas weren't worse than some of the stuff I've seen out there being lunched and getting funded. At least they picked things that were direct

I wonder if chrome was counted twice? The fact that some are still running 11 and other were running 12 makes me think that maybe users were in the middle of that switch? I'd put their numbers around 12% then. Whatever it is, I think it goo

This sure is one expensive way to figure this stuff out. For those wanting to understand better brains and music check out this book: "This is you brain on music" by Daniel J. Levitin ( http://www.amazon.com/This-Your-Brain-Music-Obsession

I've posted in the other threads about this but when I read this: "The security of WebGL as a whole depends on lower levels of the system, including OEM drivers, upholding security guarantees they never really need to worry about before." I

That's because I don't think older entrepreneur usually would go for a YC like program. A lot of them have worked long enough to have savings to bootstrap and connections. At least that's my hypothesis.

I know how you feel man, almost the same situation (no kid yet). My wife is finishing her Masters, I figure once she's done with that and has a secure job, it might be time for me to try something. It's risky but right now we make it with o

As far as I know this would also have been possible in o3d. My current app, stated out on o3d but I think the webgl move was smart. Now if they could maintain the o3d-webgl library they wrote for the change, i would be really happy. I feel t

Well they already managed to get me to fixed one of those issues with their announcement ;p I had an embedded youtube video using http on an encrypted site. Just fixed it. But this could break a lot of sites.

Good luck spotting the next iPhone. It wasn't exactly a given that the iPhone was going to be a success. And if you remove the recession, MSFT hasn't really moved it's just stagnent. Same for RIM from what I can see EDIT: I was wrong on rim

You are there definitively some things that will need to change for 3D games to be possible in WebGL. LocalStorage limits (unless using the Chrome WebStore) is preventing games from store let say 300mb of data into your browser for later us

That's definitively an issue. Is there a way around graphic drivers in the kernel? Userspace graphics drivers could be interesting if they were possible.

But before the code gets to the GPU it has to be compiled and that's the job of the GPU drivers which are know to crash often. Video card drivers are the problem. If you can manage to make them crash in a predictable way then you have a way

How regular and how long? They don't provide 100% uptime guarantee. A few hours a month of downtime is what 99.99% uptime. That's not bad at all. I personally haven't had issues with the network in the Dallas DC.

It's not really the GPUs that are the issue (once it's on the GPU I don't as far as I know see a way to hijack the system) it's the drivers that are the problem. Before your shaders can run on the GPU they have to be compiled and it's that

I hope that Apple has enough clout with their GPU providers to get them to fix their driver bugs and implement ARB_Robustness. Seriously if someone can get a good and safe implementation of WebGL it's apple. They own the hardware and the so

On the WebGL mailing list someone mentioned that it's not HW accelerated except on Mac OSX which makes hard to see this as a fallback for WebGL. There is also talk of using flash(molehill) as a fallback but that entails some conversion of t
