I have a feeling you're being sarcastic but this isn't terrible advice. I've seen a lot of dysfunction caused by that one engineer who constantly complains about the current code base and tell everyone how it should be done.

I'll bet that most students with good grades who are applying to elite colleges have higher than average IQs. MIT and Caltech are not Ivy League but even then I'm sure they have a lot of students who benefit from private schools,

The problem is that the system design interview somehow became a necessary component of the FAANG hiring process.

If you want to ask me about the wider implications for smaller subsystems then ask me about the Linux kernel. How did it become that system design is the only way to demonstrate this particular skill?

You're assuming that people who are admitted to Ivy League schools a) have higher IQs than average and b) have parents with higher IQs than average. Neither of these need to be true. It's a incestuous system where it's easy

There's no shortage of criticism of the leet coding interview questions, but I found the system design interviews even more asinine. I have never in my career had to do anything like designing a large scale system. Maybe I'm inad

None of that justifies a headline of "California will _begin_ backing intentional burns". Already this thread is full of comments condemning California for its wooly-headiness.

A strange article considering that California has been doing prescribed burns for years[1]. You could read it and easily believe that this is some new and novel approach. Many groups agree that California needs to do more but describing

A lot comes down to what life stage employees are in. Someone with fixed monthly costs and kids in school is not going to want to a) move and b) deal with the anxiety of working at a start up. Probably companies are banking on that.
