Doing 5% less science is an acceptable cost for full commercial space exploitation. I'd rather have internet service in 100% of the US than an extra few graduate theses. And who knows, necessity is the mother of invention so one of tho

RAG is an easy way to incorporate domain knowledge into a generalized model. It's 1000x more efficient to give it a look-aside buffer of info than to try to teach it ab initio. Why do more work when the data is already there?

The times I've run into people who've written a library to handle something built into Postgres... everyone likes to reinvent timestamp and range handling for some reason.

Hopefully someone leaks the spec. Maybe it's already available? Note that the latest VESA specs are also restricted. FWIW, it's easily possible to sniff the control channel of an HDMI or DP connection. At that point one could atte

Colleges and universities should have to have public audits of their admissions and other processes in order to get tax breaks and federal funding. There's so little insight and oversight for orgs that vacuum up public money.

Admittedly the tools to make the mathematics more compact and clearer weren't invented yet (except as quaternions). We did get stuck with Gibbs' vector calculus formulation as the canonical view unfortunately.

The absolute best toasting toaster I've ever used is basically a couple of resistors in a sheet metal case with a spring timer: Dualit Classic. It's comically overpriced but it does one thing and does it well.
