Drag and drop pieces and the pieces can take each other, so you could use this to animate/play-back a full game, or as the basis for a chess game.

Thanks for that example, very handy (currently learning Ember) and illustrative w.r.t. Ractive.

Best attempt at this I've seen, looking forward to getting my hands on it. It states in the video this is a native app, but written with HTML/CSS. Would be interested to know if this was written in node-webkit (like Light Table),

Aha, it's quite possible it worked before I commented, but it doesn't change the URLs as you click on the checkboxes so I couldn't tell. I cannot guess the URLs for combinations of checkboxes, e.g. canvas+charting.

Nicely done. It'd be really great if I could link to javascriptoo.com/canvas and get that page with the canvas checkbox pre-selected, so I could link to it in presentations, email to my boss etc.

Knockout is an MVVM (MV*) framework, it is much more than a templating engine. If it had a standalone templating module, then that module could qualify for the comparison for sure, but as it stands it would not make much sense to include it

Hmm, I see why it could feel like that but I don't really agree. Here's another angle: Would you rather learn some (hopefully) very well worked-out library with good documentation and all the edge-cases slaved over, with multiple contributo

Totally agree, for most production apps using a public CDN for jQuery just isn't worth it. Uglify it with your app and be done with it.

Thanks for elaborating and I hope you also realise I was just using C as an example of another language (a type-safe one). I think a lot of us have encountered 'big ball of mud C code-bases' in our careers which is what tends to spring to

If there really are business-critical parts of the app that are too slow a good developer will drop down to C (as noted by others). That doesn't negate the reasons for using Python for the rest of the app. Your mentions of maintenance and r

A fairly moot point. Do you think most C developers can write safe C code? The 2 I've encountered in my short career basically have no idea what they're doing (which I suspect is partly why they stuck with C instead of exploring alternative

Yes, except as that article shows the traditional for loop somehow ends up more palatable than the awkward `forEach.call()` voodoo you have to do to use it on a NodeList, which is a pretty sad state of affairs :/ (Note: I am aware you can a

There was a bit of snark in this comment with the "..." which I apologise for, but I think my point was fair. Trying to paint Node as an anti-framework ecosystem is disingenuous and this is clearly not a goal of either Node, npm or Express.

The whole point of Node is evented I/O in JavaScript. That's it - it doesn't take a stance on frameworks. The point of npm is ... to be a package manager. Express is a framework. I admittedly don't know much about it, but I believe it basic

The argument (as I see it) against choosing something like Backbone in order to avoid framework "conventions" is that you inevitably end up inventing your own conventions to fill in the gaps. Fine if you're a one-man team (although still ar

Looking like a great resource, nice work. +1 on the suggestions to link to npm and cdnsjs. I did spot that searching for 'require' did not find 'requirejs' (searching 'requirejs' finds it).
