On the other hand, the southern hemisphere is only 150 km away! I used to live there 2+ years, I think I could walk about 100 meters before I started really pushing the sweat. Also after a few months your body gets adjusted, and it is only

So you have studied programming for at least 5 years, what kinds of programs have you written? Apparently you have already applied your skills, since you have "created a good reputation among developers"? Why a time-frame of 20 ye

I understand why C gets recommended so much, but without a good tutor or a class, it can be very tough to get started with since you must take care of everything. This is in contrast to say, languages like Python, Javascript, Typescript, Ja

Actually since we moved to the new office in Finland, it became a custom take your outdoor-shoes off there as well. So people walk wearing socks or slippers. I realized that it is nice especially nice on winter, I used to wear winter boots

Well if you drink from 4pm to 4am, that is only half a small can per hour. Maybe I shouldn't write this, but try 1 or 2 cans per hour ;)

I just commit and push to github. Then maybe I share it at the company's slack. My blog is more of a collection of articles to refer to in the future when an opportunity arises, rather than trying to gain immediate attention.

Not that high? I use about that much in a year. But I only use the car for hobbies and once-a-week heavy groceries, so I drive about 4000 km or 2500 miles in a year. The gasoline in Finland is about 9.8 USD/gallon at the moment :)

Thanks to Numba, you can even JIT python to native machine code and gain 10 - 30x performance boost. And you can even compile the code to CUDA GPU code! Pretty cool to do that in python, rather than in a C dialect.

My home Linux desktop is on as long as it works, but some times GPU drivers get bugged or something else happens. So it doesn't get rebooted that many times per year. And the NAS doesn't get booted basically ever, without some mai

Well the theory tells us that lookups are O(1) anyway, so the implementation doesn't matter ;) Will the dataset change over time, or is it immutable? I have some thoughts on this, but I have no idea how it would scale to terabyte-scale

GPT is "only" capable of generating text, as of now it cannot do any explicit calculations. But if you ask it what is 1+1, maybe it can answer "2" since it has seen that example so many times. It still didn't do any

There is no need to copy them, you can just kind of "store the delta" and re-use the unchanged part. Checkout immutable / persistent data-structures, they are quite fascinating.

I never understood why people have extensive lists of file extensions in their .gitignore files, for example `.DS_Store, .so, .dll, .pyc, .pyd, *.bak, ...`: - https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/blob/

I prefer to implement ideas "from scratch" (using Keras and Tensorflow) as much as possible, and quite rarely use pre-trained networks. But as pre-trained networks are getting more and more powerful, this isn't an ideal strat

What language do you use, CUDA-flavored C? I have found Numba's GPU JIT to be a great alternative, since you get to write Python.

I don't know how ambitious goals to set for myself. Should I aim for harder and harder work environments and roles until I fail and get burnt out, or stay put at the safe comfort zone.
