Actually since we moved to the new office in Finland, it became a custom take your outdoor-shoes off there as well. So people walk wearing socks or slippers. I realized that it is nice especially nice on winter, I used to wear winter boots indoors all day long and ofcourse they get toasty. We always take off our shoes when entering a home, except if it is a formal party and people are wearing suits etc.
I mean if I sat on the floor on a metro, train station, street, a park etc. I'd wash my hands (and maybe change my pants) once getting home. At least there is all kinds of grit, sand, dust, smears etc. I wouldn't want to introduce to my sofa or food. If food drops on the floor at and I feel a bit icky eating it, I think it is time to tidy up :D And trust me, I dont' clean that often. Maybe once a month?
