Not only that but why would you change the clean top bar? The dark one that is live for weeks now is worse than the old one.

by nik736 10y ago
That's just untrue. Xiaomi ships weekly or bi-weekly updates that include Android security patches.

I don't understand why companies have such a hard time crafting smartphones that are as good looking as Xiaomi or Apple devices. The front of the 5 & 6 is acceptable, but the back just kills it for me. Also the 5 looks the best in

What's an actual use-case for this? I am reading the documentation but still don't see why I should use it and what the actual advantages compared to current solutions are.

Only new locations (FRA, SFO2) have the 10 Gbps pipe, and I am constantly able to push 2-5 Gbps through it in Frankfurt.

by nik736 10y ago
Well, you get a 10 Gbps pipe with DO, while only 75 Mbps with Linode, lol!

"In the coming months we’ll be releasing into beta our new Linode Manager, RESTful API, and block storage service." From the blog post you just commented on ;-)

The $3 VMs are different from the cloud instances. You get local storage with the $3 VMs which work great, while the cloud instances have some weird Ceph cluster that is making problems all the time. So the $3 VMs are way better than the re

Yes, they do.

Looks good but the scrolling is really weird and laggy for me.

I am still missing Rdio and hope Pandora Premium gets the UI/UX and the music suggestion part right. It's sad that Spotify is still years behind a product that died in late '15.

So you want to work less but get paid more than double you are currently on? You don't seem to be motivated to learn anything new, so how do you justify the more bucks you'll want to earn?

The only problem? What about their garbage storage system, only 1 IPv4 per server, the object storage which isn't useable for over a year because they have to scale up resources. As much as I like Online, the system is not really useab

Wonder why the smaller plans don't have the Xeon D as well. The single thread performance of those Atoms suck so much that it's not worth using it for any web app.

I agree that there are better alternatives out there. Angular simply has the advantage to be "by Google", which will give it always the upper hand for non technical "deciders".

There are basically a shitload of datacenters in Frankfurt so I won't talk about every DC, but more of a general overview. It doesn't matter what your budget is or what your requirements are, you will find a DC in Frankfurt. You b

Are you sure about the location? I would go with Frankfurt, Germany. Biggest IX in the world and if you want a "low-latency" solution for all users this is basically the middle of everything. NYC will have a worse connection to As

We have minimum wage as well and they are simply excluded from that. Problem, where? You pay a shitload of money to study, while you actually get paid doing your apprenticeship. It's a win-win.

by nik736 10y ago
What's the point of this article? There is no real problem I can see. I made an apprenticeship in Germany and for most jobs you have to work 3 years to get it done. 3 years is plenty of time to make money out of the apprentice, even if
