Well, you are comparing shitty atom cores to E5 cores. These are just some random numbers without context.

Yes, but it's still stupid. Cloud hosting companies who are using hourly billing are used to spin instances up and down all the time. Imagine your app has a busy day and you need 500% more resources than usual, with the system of Vultr

The performance of DO is far superior compared to Lightsail. Disk speed is a joke, network seems to be limited to 50MB/s (which is not that bad) and who knows how much they throttle the CPU.

They want to destroy DigitalOcean, so they have to match their pricing. Additional traffic is also $0,09 / GB with Lightsail.

I am not really sure how this works exactly but since they are receiving my email and ssh keys from GitHub, can't they simply use it for malicious purpose?

I actually love Online.net and Scaleway. The problem is just that I personally prefer to have one strong core and not 8 slow cores since single thread performance is still the most relevant thing. Even though you get 2GB RAM for 3 EUR they

I love my ceramic Mi5 Pro! Feels awesome and I can't imagine something else after using it. Sadly even Xiaomi probably won't build a ceramic phone again because of the manufacturing hassle.

Biggest myth I have ever heared. Only because someone can write frontend JS, doesn't mean he can understand backend logic and actually write proper backend code. Also, if you are a 1-2 person team and using a frontend JS MVC framework

Depends on what exactly a cloud provider is for you. If it's only about VMs with an API and global footprint there are several options: - GCE - SoftLayer (IBM IaaS) - Azure And additionally there are several other providers that are mo

I don't understand why anyone wants to use MD by choice. I don't have an opinion about the web looking similar (has pros and cons) but what I know is that MD looks just not right and at times very weird. I understand that everyone

For me the idea of Firefox is nice. The problem is that Safari or Chrome are far superior in my opinion. I just checked out the dev tools of Firefox again and (again, in my opinion) nowadays Safari has the best dev tools and since I already

You've heared or you've tried? Linode has doubled their RAM on the $10 node to 2GB, which is perfectly fine for GitLab.

Yes, I agree, but as a customer that sucks. The customer is the one who suffers, Hetzner is the one who wins coz they don't have to pay.

That's true, I agree. If you just need cheap storage Hetzner is probably the way to go. On the other hand, if you need 24x 1 TB SSD storage with a 10gbit RPN connection: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CblcJ2pUUAAtbhK.

Yes, for several years. I am also using Scaleway (their bare metal cloud) which is dirt cheap, you get a 8 Core Atom (4000 Passmark score) with 32 GB Ram and a 250 GB direct attached SSD for 22 EUR / month. You can get more uptime (99.

The internal network is a joke, it only works if you have all of your servers in one rack and you need to rent a switch to connect all of them. Online.net has a real RPN where you can add SAN storage to it etc etc. The PX line is a Fujitsu

I'm from Germany but Online.net is the way better alternative to Hetzner for me. Server grade hardware, cheaper, no compromises, internal network, etc. etc. I think they even hired a lot new support people recently so you get an answer
