Unrelated to the post, but why is the only option to rent? I love iTunes, but I hate their rental policy (only watch for 24 hours). Would be nice if I could just pay the 10-15 bucks and own it.

Same here, and for some stuff, using iOS reminders works well. I've tried all of them - Things, Wunderlist, Asana, iOS Reminders (still use a bit), and can't get any of them to stick.

Feel the same way, and can't help but wonder why these articles keep getting upvoted. Side note - reminds me of my first FOWA, where Ryan hogged a majority of the QA time from each presenter to ask questions about his own business. I admire

As a vegetarian, I admit that certain meat dishes do taste good (at least from what I remember) and that I do miss meat occasionally. However, I think what I most miss is not the taste of meat (which can be substituted as mentioned in many

That's exactly how I felt after trunk.ly was acquired. I thought I had the perfect system for bookmarks, only to have it all wiped out from underneath me. That said, with the Dropbox integration, this looks pretty nifty. I particularly like

I think this is a good thing, as startup valuations are already frothy, especially when based on users instead of earnings. Perhaps this is what's needed to bring the game back to reality so that everyone can prosper.

This is spot on. I've been on both sides of the fence, and in multiple disciplines. The strange thing I found is that finding a job as a developer has been just as difficult, if not more so, than finding a non-technical job. On the non-tech

I don't care if people learn to code or don't learn to code, but it would be nice if just for once, we could stop seeing a meta circle jerk at the top of HN every single day.

How can you not blame the business? If you are big enough to start a business, you should be big enough to run it right. That means doing research before entering a marketing channel.

As someone offering a product in the same competitive set, I have to be careful how I say this, but here goes. The more I watch Kickstarter in action, the more I see them not as an innovator and entrepeneur aide, but as a middle man trying

This is what happens when business owners don't educate themselves before venturing into social marketing. Facebook is not a one stop marketing shop. It won't light a fire under a business unless a) that business is worthy of the fire b) th

I'm not sure it's impossible. I started down that path, doing OK, learning to program only after I got tired of waiting for deliverables. In fact, I found that hiring freelancers to build something that I could study made my learning proces

As someone who is currently working in an organization that doesn't offer me that sort of fulfillment, I'd love to be working for Apple and receiving that on day 1. Not everyone is going to be an entrepreneur, fewer of us will be successful

Apps, even those that make very little profit, are great until you factor in customer service. I spend far more time than I'd like answering the same questions over and over again, even though I post several of those answers in the app desc

Why are we still focusing on hardware when it is clear that software is just as, if not more important than appearance and feature set? It has a big screen and fancy processor, but it's still Android, and until that blemish is removed, Sams

I don't think it's 'old school' to work long hours. In my case, it's because I enjoy my work and I don't mind putting in 60 hour weeks. That said, if I were on your team, I would love having the extra time away from work.

This is true, not to mention guys like Merlin Mann talking about them on 5by5. Nothing wrong with that, but it does certainly help.

I think this goes to show how valuable being part of YC is. Were any other app like this to try and raise money outside of that circle, I think it would be difficult. Not to say Pair and its team isn't deserving, but 4.2 is a lot of cash. I

I disagree. Perhaps having been broke at one point is sufficient, but even then, if you are an entrepreneur motivated by passion, then money has nothing to do with it. Maybe we're talking about two different types of entrepreneurs here, tho

I'm not arguing that criticism isn't valuable, I'm just arguing that it isn't valuable when you are still in the early stages of building your idea. Build it based on what you think it should be, see if people use it, and then accept feedba
